CCG#202 'wo{man's} best friend.....

Over at Color Combos Galore, we are wrapping up our celebration of National Ice Cream Month with an icy-cool, tart palette.

Our Designer's Challenge is Focus on Trend: Use woodgrain products on your project, as inspired by the background in the Inspiration Photo. The woodgrain pattern can appear on patterned paper, embellishments, stamps, or even real wood. You really should check out the awesome projects the DT created this week.

Here is my take on the challenge. 

I tried to incorporate wood grain to the background paper by using a wood grain tool.  I really wasn't getting the effect I was going for, so my 'wood grain' doesn't look wood grain at all.

I also did a little twist on the well known saying, 'Man's Best Friend', and changed it to 'Wo(man's) Best Friend'.  And of course, the picture is Mr. Personality himself, Moosie.

Little Black Dress 'Graduation Happy' and a share for The Creative Soup

Hi Everyone!  I hope your Monday has been a good one.

As July wraps up, I thought I'd share another layout I created for the Little Black Dress kit club.  This is a picture of my niece when she graduated this May.  This was a fantastic picture and really captures the mood of the day.

Canvas Mixed Media {love} and awesome news!

Happy Sunday!  It's been a HOT one here today....around 100 degrees...will it ever cool down?!??!

A few weeks ago, Christy Tomlinson (of She Art fame) posted a creative challenge inspired by a friend of hers.  (Junelle Jacobsen)

Here is Junelle's fantastic mixed media art.....

I immediately feel in love with the rolled paper idea, and also used some of the techniques she taught in the She Art workshop.

Here is the 'Tina' version of the challenge.  I really love the rolled vintage paper design....you might even see it in a future layout or two.

Now...for some totally awesome news!  I have been accepted to be on the first ever design team for a brand spanking new kit club.....'The Paper Bakery'.  This is an awesome kit club, with great product, ideas, and inspiration.  I can't wait to start creating!

Old Fashioned Scrapbooking.....

When I was cleaning the house last weekend, I ran across my first ever scrapbook.  WOW, how my style and scrapbooking designs have changed.  This particular book is about 12 years old, and shows how basic my style was back then.

I really love how scrapbooking has 'evolved' thru the years.  It now encompasses all types of arts:  painting, paper piecing and crafting, sewing, journaling, mixed media, etc. etc. and etc.

I think the thing that draws me into to the 'art of scrapbooking' is the ability to use any craft, technique, or style to make it your own.  You can use pre-bought embellishments or you can create your own.  You can use some of the beautiful pre-made patterned paper that is produced today, or you can create your own unique masterpieces.  Pretty much anything goes.

I would love to hear how scrapbooking has changed for you through the years and what you love most about this craft.

Happy Tuesday my crafty friends.  I can't believe July is almost done.  Where has the summer gone?  Before we know it, winter (and snow, yuk!) will be here.  How will you be spending the rest of your summer?  Leave a comment with your plans.......

I'd also like to share another layout from the LBD July kit - titled 'My Wish, for you.....'.

Again, it features a co-workers adorable daughter, and his gorgeous wife.  When I saw this picture, I just knew it had to scrapbooked!  :)

The color scheme is very subtle, but intricate.  The background paper is Pink Paislee - beautiful paper, huh?

I still have a couple more layouts from the July kit that I will share in the next several days...so stay tuned.  I also have some exciting news that I will be sharing shortly!
