OUAS October - Simple Things Matter Most

Happy late Sunday, or early Monday, in whatever part of the world you are in!

Today, I would like to share with you my layout for October 'Once Upon A Sketch'.  I really had fun with the sketch and journaling this month, so let's not waste anytime.

Here's the UBER FANTASTIC Nadia sketch.

And the journaling prompt:

I took creative liberty and made the circles, squares...moved the title, and elongated the background section.

Spot the collection?  Lovely JBS product.  LOVE this stencil paper!!

I snuck my journaling into the large envelope, and it reads:

In today’s world, it is SO easy to get distracted by all of the technology,
by our busy lives, by all of the physical demands of parenting and by all
of the responsibilities of our career, that it is easy to forget to FOCUS
on the little things.

Things that matter the most.
Things that you will remember when you are old.
Things that you will laugh about with your family and friends.
Things that make you feel human and alive.
Things that you leave behind when you are gone.
These are the things that are important.

I also used a chipboard title from Imaginarium Designs.  These are FANTASTIC!

 Make sure and hop on over to the OUAS blog and check out the amazing DT layouts!  You WILL be inspired.

As always, thank you for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend.

CSI Case File #39 - All I need to Know, I learned from...

Happy Friday!  Friday's are one of my favorite days for several reasons...obviously the end of a workweek, but more excitingly, reveal days over at CSI.

October has been a fun month at CSI.  We have joined forces with OUAS and combined the challenges all month.  Every week, a new challenge and sketch have been revealed and we have had a record breaking month for participation.

This is the last combo reveal for the month, so I thought I'd play along.

Here is the challenge.

And Michelle's coordinates.

My evidence includes:
1.  Use Rub-Ons
2.  Use leaves
3.  Use birds
4.  Use stars.
5.  Use little bits and pieces
6.  Use wings (I used butterflies for my wings)
7.  Use book pages (layered in behind my photos)
8.  Use a frame.  (I cut my wood frame in 1/2 to surround my photos)

Whew, 8 pieces of evidence.  Almost a record.

For my journaling, I took the prompt:  "All I really need to know, I learned..."  From my dog.

My journaling is stuck in a glassine envelope behind my photos, and reads:

All I really need to know,
 I learned from my dog...
*  Loyalty
* Faithfulness
* Companionship
* Friendship
* Happiness
* Playfulness
* True
* Unconditional Love
* Comforting

and some close-ups...

Hop on over and see the entire reveal!  It is amazing.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great night.

Authentique Guest Designer....

Happy Day everyone!

Whew, I'm still getting over the shock of earlier today, but are you ready for some project shares?  Let's get to it!

Yesterday, I was up on the Authentique blog as a Guest Designer.  I was lucky enough to get to play with one of my favorite collections from Summer CHA, Curiosity.  I am in love with the muted bluish-greys and mustard yellow's of the collection.  The design of this collection is so perfect for heritage and vintage layouts and fresh new projects.  The school age theme takes me back to my early childhood.

My first layout is of my Mom, circa 1962.  I love how the vintage photo matched the Curiosity collection to a tee.

My second layout is another heritage layout, this time featuring a picture of ME, circa 1968.  :)

My next project is a card - yes, I said CARD!  :)   I don't create cards often, but I really loved the little word stickers and wanted to do something using the 'smarty pants' words.

My last project was one of the favorite things I made with the Curiosity collection.

One of the 12x12 sheets from the collection included these fun Flash card alphabet squares.

I thought it would be fun to cut out each square, laminate them, and store them in a box.  The box was made with a design from the Silhouette store and took another 12x12 sheet from the collection.

What a great alternative to the store bought flash cards!

That is all for my Authentique projects.  As always, thank you for stopping by.   Your time and comments are always appreciated!

B is for Bird - Pretty Little Studio

Happy Wednesday/Thursday (depending on the part of the world you live in)!  :)

Today, I'd like to share a short tutorial that was up on the Pretty Little Studio blog early in the week.

I love creating these extra large tags.  They are so fun and super quick to make.  Here is a peek into the design process.

Paint tag with Gesso and mist with your favorite stencil.

Cut/Punch squares of several patterned paper and cut in half diagonally.

Cut a notch in each triangle shape and place on tag where desired. Stitch or adhere to tag.

Make a stickpin flag by cutting 2 mini banner flags and gluing to stickpin.

Add stickpin flag, die-cuts, journaling tag, and twine to tag where desired.

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your day!

Pretty Little Studio Challenges, So Very You & Me at 48

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Today, I am sharing 2 of my recent layouts created for the September Challenges, over at Pretty Little Studio.

My first layout is 'So Very You'.

My layout is based on this AD CHALLENGE inspiration photo.

I drew inspiration from the circular shapes in the center of the photo and from the subtle circular shapes in the background.

And some close-ups...

I used a mixture of 'BE MY VALENTINE' and 'BIRTHDAY CLOWNS' for my layout.  Love mixing these too.  Looks great!

The second challenge I participated in this month, is based on this sketch.

I took some liberty an moved things around a bit, and came up with this.

I used 'JINGLE BELLS', mixed with some Monsieur for this layout.  Who says you can't use Christmas paper on a birthday layout??  :)

Make sure you stop by the Pretty Little Studio blog.  If you play along with the weekly challenges, you have a chance to win a gift certificate to PLS!  How cool is that?

As always, thanks for stopping by!  I greatly appreciate it!
