CSI Case File #52 - let me count the ways..

IF YOU ARE HERE FOR THE FOUR GIVEAWAYS, PLEASE CLICK HERE!

Hello and Happy Sunday!

Friday, was the last Case File reveal for CSI and it was a Wowzer!  I don't know how long I sat at my computer and stared at the DT reveal.  It was incredible and so full of crazy talent!

Let's not waste anytime and get right to the reveal!

and the lovely coordinates...

Before I show you my take on the Case File, here is the evidence I incorporated into my layout.

1.  Use woodgrain (there is a subtle hint of a woodgrain stamp on the background)
2.  Use twine/string
3.  Use paint
4.  Use newsprint paper
5.  Use tags
6.  Use circles
7.  Use number stickers

My journaling 'prompt/idea' is actually a combination of several of the testimony ideas.  I was going to list 9 ways I loved my children, but instead, I choose to include a copy of the poem 'How do I love thee, let me count the ways...' by Elizabeth Barrett Browning.  I tucked the poem in the envelope behind the photo.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, --- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! --- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Please be sure to stop by the CSI website and check out the amazing reveal!

On a rather sad note, this will be my last 'official' Design Team layout for CSI.  I will be participating on the weekly Case Files from time to time, but need to step down for personal reasons.  Make sure you follow along in January 2013 as we will be celebrating the ONE YEAR anniversary and have many fun challenges and activities in store for you!

I hope your holiday has been a wonderful one and your New Year will be blessed!

As always, thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day!

CSI Case File #51 - why must love hurt so much?

Hello and Happy Saturday!

Christmas is inching ever so close and last minute preparations are being done.

Yesterday, was the 51st (Yes, 51 reveals) reveal over at CSI.  This weeks colors and prompts were amazing and full of texture, shine, and lace!

Even though the evidence was full of holiday spirit, my inspiration for my entire layout came from my journaling prompt - Use a Six Word Memoir.  I created the title to my layout based on this prompt and went from there.

My evidence includes:
1.  Use circular objects
2.  Use snowflakes
3.  Use glitter
4.  Use rhinestones or pearls
5.  Use metal
6.  Use something filagree, or lacey

My journaling (which is on the back of my page) are my thoughts on love.

Why must love hurt so much?
Such a simple question, but the answer is so elusive.  In the early stages of love, you feel as if you are walking on air.  The world is full of smiles, happiness, and hope.  When you experience new love, you are unstoppable and feel as if you can conquer the world.

As love grows, a sense of contentment and blessing fills every inch of your soul.  Your love feels endless and that it will last forever.
Occasionally, love wanes and fades.  Your heart, once full of happiness and joy, begins to fill with pain and sorrow.  As you experience the loss of love, you begin to question your sense of self and face an uncertain future.  Days seem to last forever and the nights never end.

As days pass, the feeling of loss, hurt, and sadness begin to subside.  The days become brighter and the nights become restful.  As the feeling of lost love becomes a memory, you focus on the future and what lies ahead.  You become hopeful that love will find you and that you will experience that feeling of exhilaration once again.
The circle of love has continued throughout all time and is always certain.  But it still doesn’t answer the question of ‘Why does love hurt so much?’.

Please be sure and stop by the CSI blog and check out the full DT reveal!

As always, thank you for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Pretty Little Studio, OTB Challenge, Technique!

Hello and Happy Thursday!

Today, the latest Out of the Box Challenge is up on the Pretty Little Studio blog.  The challenge this week is technique.  Here is the inspiration image.

I LOVE stars!  So I thought it would be great to take a literal interpretation of the challenge and create stars with one of my favorite star punches and toothpicks.  Here's what I created.

Did you notice another one of my favorite things?  Starbucks Chai Tea Latte - YUM!!

The stars were SUPER SIMPLE to make.  I punched 2 stars and sandwiched a toothpick between with wet adhesive.

Be sure to hop on over to the Pretty Little Studio blog and participate in the challenge for a chance to win a PLS GC!  How great is that?

As always, thanks for stopping by!  Your time and comments are always appreciated!

JBS Christmas Tags!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

Today, I'd like to share several tags I created for Jenni Bowlin Studios.  If you still have presents to wrap or last minute gifts to buy, and need a fun and festive way to add some holiday cheer to your gift, how about create a vintage tag using lots of JBS goodies?

No need to have extra tags on hand with the Die Cut and Perforated Paper Tag Sheet. I used 3 different tags from this sheet and embellished each one with Mini Deck Cards, JBS feathers, Mini File Folders and Printed Kraft Tags. I also added Vintage Sew On Buttons and Doily Flowers for a unique look. (Other supplies include: True Vintage labels, Mercantile Exclusive Label Stickers) I finished each tag with an exclusive JBS for Jessica Sprague cut file.

Wouldn’t these look fabulous on a gift for your favorite person? If you have wrapped all of your holiday presents, how about on a Holiday layout or card?

I hope you enjoyed by Christmas tags today! I hope you have a wonderfully crafty and festive week!

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas and Pretty Little Studio!

Hello and Happy Monday!

Today, I would like to share a couple of Christmasy (is that a word?) projects created for Pretty Little Studio, using several of their Christmas/Holiday collections.

My first project is a Christmas Home Decor frame.  One of my favorite PLS products, are the cute, adorable, and versatile vintage die cuts!  I love using them on cards, layouts, tags, and off the page projects!  They are always the perfect addition to any idea!

One way to really add your own unique twist to them, is to bling them out!  Here is a quick tutorial on how I bling out my die cuts with glitter and glue!

1. Apply a thin layer of wet adhesive to the areas you want to bling out. Add glitter. Add plenty of glitter so it completely covers the adhesive. I always (lightly) pack the glitter into the glue so ensure full coverage. Once you are happy with the glitter coverage, ‘flick’ the back of your die cut or paper. This will remove the excess glitter. Flick the extra glitter onto a scrap piece of paper so you can put the extra glitter back in the container for your next project

2. For the Santa die cut, I wanted to add a little glitz to his Santa Suit and Belt. I added clear glitter to the white portions and black and gold to his belt. I also blinged out the edges of his ‘naughty or nice’ list and the little spots on the dog

3. For the Christmas Tree die cut, I blinged out the tree garland, tree star and packages. As you can see, accenting small areas of the die cut really makes the die cut glisten and shine

I hope you try blinging out your next die cut!  It really adds a little POP!

My next project is a card created with the Winter Wonderland collection. Lots of layers and fun little details.

I hope you enjoyed my holiday projects!  Be sure and check out the PLS blog for more daily inspiration!

Thank you for stopping by!
