My tag ART obsession!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

I have something to admit!  I have been bitten by the Mixed Media bug!  And it is contagious!  So you better watch out and not get too close, or you might find yourself dreaming of paint, ink, gesso, and modeling paste!

Last year, I was totally impressed with the creativity and ideas in 'Creative Jumpstart'.  I was inspired and many of the techniques and hints provided really stuck with me.  This years CJS was INCREDIBLE!  The line up that Nathalie Kalbach put together was amazing.  I am still going through the videos, but I have been so inspired by what I've seen, I started an Art Journal.  What?  Yes, can you believe it?!?

An easy way to try new techniques and ideas, is by creating on tags.  I must say, I love this idea!  It is like a mini canvas that is forgiving (and cheap), so you don't feel bad testing out new techniques.

I keep all of my tags and plan on pulling them out for projects here and there, but I thought it would be fun to use some of my 'not so favorite' ones, by punching circles from them for a scrapbook page.

I used this week's sketch over at Studio Calico for another jumping off point, to create a layout about my obsession!

Here is the SC sketch, based a card from Robyn Werlich's Block Party gallery.

I really loved the circles, so I incorporated them into my layout with the punched circles from my tags, and expanded the 'hello' banner piece.

It was seriously so much fun creating this, since it allowed me to create a layout, with my mixed media art!  I am sure you will see this in future projects!  :)

Thank you for taking the time to stop by!  Have a great Wednesday!

Guest Blogger for Christina Collins!

Hello and Happy Snowy (at least in Utah) Tuesday everyone!

I have a very special post today!  A few weeks back, the lovely Christina Collins asked if I'd be interested in being a Guest Blogger for her.  Of course!  This has been a wonderful experience and  I hope you take a minute or two to hop over to her blog and check out the post.

Here's the layout I created for the Guest Post, but would like to see some close-ups and get some of my design tips, you'll have to hop on over to her blog.  :)

I would like to thank Christina again for allowing me to Guest on her blog.  Thank YOU for stopping by today!  I hope your day is a wonderful one!

p.s.  I would like to also thank Kelly Stahley for creating my awesome new blog look!  I love it!  She is also printing a custom-made dog print (like the one on my blog header) for my art room!  I can't wait to get it.

CSI One Year Anniversary Party! (and Blog Hop)

Hello and Happy Friday!  Who is ready for a PARTY??  A CSI Party that is!

CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration turned one this month, and we've been celebrating with fun and festivities all month long. But what's a birthday party without presents?

We are rounding out CSI's birthday celebration with a huge pile of presents! The talented and very generous CSI design team, aka the CSI Detectives, have prepared special blog posts for you this week, and all you have to do is leave a comment on participating design team members' blogs for a chance to receive a present from them! The more blogs you comment on, the more chances you'll have to receive a gift!

We also have the brand-new company Blue Fern Studios joining our blog hop! Our very own Detective Michele Singh is the designer of this company's beautiful chipboard, and we are delighted to have Blue Fern Studios join us to celebrate our birthday on the month they were introduced to the world!

The CSI Birthday Presents Blog Hop will run from January 25 - 29. Winners will be announced in our Full Disclosure (Announcements) Forum the following week. A newsletter will go out to members once this announcement is posted.

Here is a list of the blogs you will want to visit:

But what's a party without a SUPER DUPER CSI Challenge to go with it?? Check this week's challenge out.....

And the lovely coordinates by Michelle!

Here is my take on the challenge!

My evidence includes:
1.  Use clouds
2.  Use something that dangles or hangs
3.  Use something translucent
4.  Make a little packet that holds little bits of something
5.  Use plain cardstock background (there is a sheet of white cardstock as my background)

My journaling is hidden behind my photo.  I took inspiration from the following testimony:  '13 hints for a happy life'

It reads:
13 tips for a happy life

1. Give people more than they expect.
2. Be generous.
3. Be forgiving of others and yourself.
4. Be loyal.
5. Be honest.
6. Take good care of those you love.
7. Be bold and courageous.
8. Smile more.
9. Love yourself.
10. Eat chocolate.
11. Pet a dog.
12. Be creative.
13. Never stop dreaming.

I can't wait to see how you are inspired by the challenge this week.

Please leave a comment below for a chance to win my RAK.  I would love to hear your hints for a Happy Life!!!

(I haven't taken a picture of my giveaway yet, but I promise it will be full of goodies).

International followers are welcome!

Your next stop on the Birthday celebration hop is the amazing Yumi Takasaki!  Just love her design style!  If you have joined the hop from my blog, you will want to start at the wonderfully creative blog of Adrienne Ford.

Studio Calico Weekly Challenge! All you need is love and home!

Hello and Happy Thursday!  We are SO close to the weekend and I can't wait.  I plan on crafting a bit this weekend and hopefully my cold cooperates with me and is completely gone by then!

I couldn't sleep last night, so I 'whipped' up a layout for the weekly challenge over at SC.  The challenge this week is a Recipe Challenge and your card or layout should follow the following recipe:

* 4 squares
* 3 small round embellishments
* alphabet stamps
* paper strips
* mist

As usual, I have a 'hard-time' following rules (hee hee), so I stretched the challenge a bit.  Here we go!

Instead of SQUARES, I made my own RECTANGLES from modeling paste, a Crafter's Workshop stencil and Ranger Spray Mist. I went for a 'un-square' (is that a word?!?!) look, and created different sized rectangles and placed them in a non-square fashion.

I also 'expanded' the use of paper strips, and included several layered stickers, and an accordian flower to my paper strip selection.

I found this little stamp in my stash and it was perfect for my title!
"All you need is love & home"

And these alpha stamps from Studio Calico were a great compliment to my little stamp. Of course I had use some MME enamel dots from the new Collectable collection for my 3 small round embellishment ingredient.

And to think this entire layout started with a 12x12 sheet of white chipboard and an hour and 1/2 later, was a finished layout!  I love it when it just flows!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by!  There is a special post tomorrow evening, so be sure and stop back!  You won't want to miss it!

Pretty Little Sketch Challenge - 'sisterhood'

Hello and Happy Wednesday!  Whew, I'm so glad the week is half over.  My cold is slowly going away, so I will soon feel well enough to scrap again!

Yesterday, the new Sketch challenge went live over at Pretty Little Studio!

As usual, Keri created an awesome sketch!

And as usual, I had to twist it up!  :)

I was inspired by the large banner element, so I used this as the main accent to my page.

Be sure and stop by the PLS blog and check out what the DT created for the challenge.  Link up your challenge layouts for chance to win a $10 PLS GC.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by today!  As always, your comments are always read and appreciated!

Pretty Little Studio X FOUR!

Hello and Happy Thursday!

I'm home sick with a major head cold, so instead of creating, I thought I'd share some previously un-shared Pretty Little Studio layouts.

This first layout was based on a sketch by Keri Babbitt.  I rotated the sketch upside down and moved my title over and to the top.

My second layout used the new 'Christmas At Home' collection.  I love the vibrant blue's, red's, and green's in the collection, and it is perfect for a non-holiday project.

 My 3rd project also uses the 'Christmas At Home' collection.

I used the left over packaging from the sticker set, and stitched together the circle garland and index tabs to make my own embellisments.

 My last layout was created for this week's Color Challenge, over on the Pretty Little Studio blog.

This photo was the source of inspiration.

 Be sure and stop by the PLS blog and link up your take on the Sketch Challenge for a chance to win a PLS Gift Certificate!

As always, thank you for taking the time to stop by!  Your time and comments are always appreciated!
